Young Minas Tirith Phenom Splashes onto Tolkien Baseball Scene; Granitehammer Wins Rookie of Month

Carl Granitehammer proved to be one of the Shire Conference's preeminent rookies last month, putting up Rookie of the Month award-winning numbers. In June the third baseman for Minas Tirith stroked 25 hits, jolted 3 home runs, and drove in 14. He drew 7 bases on balls and registered an OBP of .367 in 90 plate appearances. Granitehammer appeared in 23 games.

Over the course of this 2013 season he has blistered hurlers for 8 doubles, no triples, banged out 10 home runs and has 35 RBI. Granitehammer also chipped in with 39 runs scored, 37 walks, no stolen bases and put up a .323 average with 80 hits in 248 at-bats. He has been in 71 games.
