Mordor Conference Wins All-Star Contest

DEAD MARSHES - Before a packed house of 45,000 at Uruk-hai Field, the Mordor Conference won the 11th annual All-Star Game by the score of 5-4.

The Shire came out on top first when Gandaugrin "Doggy" Gamaiborn of Wilderland laced a 2-run triple down the left field line, scoring Bucklebury's Samwise Peatfingers and Morag the Shriek of Moria. Unfortunately for them, it would be the last hit they'd see off Mordor pitching for a while.

In the top of the 4th, home town hero, Imcir Imcirion of the Uruk-hai, rapped home 2 runs to tie the game. Minas Morgul's Petunia Gamgee and Ravenhill's Teun Mulder scored on the hit, but Lothlorien's Gollomer Gauthor was gunned down heading to third. Gamgee knocked in the go-ahead run in the 5th with a single scoring teammate, Firbal the Nasty. Another run in the 6th on a sac fly by Dagorlad's Isembard Ploughman made it 4-2, and Imcirion struck again with a solo homerun just inside the right field foul pole to make it 5-2 for the Mordor squad.

In the bottom of the 9th, the Shire made a comeback attempt when Morag the Shriek singled home Durin Brickfoot of Carrock, and Mo Catsquisher drove in his Mirkwood teammate, Minto Gamwich. But it was too late. Dol Guldur's Elrelf Elreaoborn got the Titans' Rhedry Scimitar to ground out to end the ballgame.

The winner was Gimli Cloudskin of Lothlorien. The loser was Bywater's Haleodur Grilgol. Elreoborn got the save. The player of the game was Imcirion.
