Moria-Rivendell Swap Pitchers
MORIA - The Miners GM announced a deal with the Royals that swaps their starting pitcher, Denaumir 'Iceball' Deneadur, along with a minor league reliever and some cash for Rivendell's James Gilbertson. Deneadur, 32, is still one of the hardest throwers on the planet, but his 5-10 record and 4.83 ERA have not lived up to the expectations Moria fans had when he joined the team in a trade with Bucklebury in 2010. "Iceball" was a big star with Mirkwood in the early years of the league, going 19-9 with a 3.43 ERA and 314 strikeouts in 2005, and winning the Return of the King Series in 2005 and 2006. In the 2006 series, he fanned 20 batters in a game and won the Bilbo Playoff MVP.
Gilbertson, 27, was Rivendell's 2nd pick in 2005. He had a lot of injuries during his minor league career, but finally got the chance to start for the Royals in 2011. Since then, he has compiled a 31-28 record with a 3.39 ERA and 548 K's. This season, he's 6-7 with a 4.57 ERA. Upon joining the Moria team, Gilbertson changed his name to a more Hobbit-ish Theodorus Tumbletoe.
