Bagdreg the Hated traded to Rivendell
MINAS MORGUL - Despite a season that seemed to assure him of the Gandalf Pitcher Award in the Mordor Conference after years of struggle, Bagdreg the Hated has been dealt to the Royals. In a move that shocked fans, Minas Morgul traded their ace pitcher and a minor leaguer to Rivendell in exchange for Denaumir Deneadur, Gleran Foemaker and some draft picks. Bagdreg, 32, is 18-5 with a 2.39 ERA this season, his first in Minas Morgul after several years with the Moria Miners. He dazzled Slayer fans on Opening Day with a 17-strikeout no-hitter against Isengard, and finished May with a 6-0 record and a 0.77 ERA, winning the first 2 Pitcher of the Month awards this season.
Speculation around the move concerns both Bagdreg's age and his contract status. With his performance this year, it is likely that he will seek a huge salary when his contract runs out at the end of the season. Minas Morgul ownership may have been unable to re-sign the pitching star.
Meanwhile, Rivendell is pulling out all the stops to try and catch a playoff spot in the Shire. The Royals trail Mirkwood by 13 games in the Elf Division and are 8 behind the Merry Fellows. Only 5 games separate them from Bucklebury in the Wild Card race, however.
