Minas Tirith Titans Granitehammer Snags Rookie of Month Trophy in Shire Conference

What a fantastic July it was for Carl Granitehammer! The Minas Tirith third baseman battered Shire Conference hurlers for a .368 batting average, 3 doubles, 2 homers, and 6 RBI in a month-long assault. He also scored 14 runs, walked 12 times, and put up a .444 on base percentage. His 5 extra-base hit total led to a .471 slugging percentage. If he continues to outpace the rookie class like this, he will be the 2013 Frodo Rookie Award winner.

Granitehammer has put together a consistent year for a young player. The 20-year-old has batted .333 so far, collecting 112 hits--23 of those for extra bases--driving in 43 RBI, scoring 53 runs and connecting for 12 home runs. He has 48 bases on balls and compiled a .418 OBP.
