Final playoff spots up for grabs
With the final 7 games of the season ahead, it's do-or-die time for the final playoff spots, and at least one team is going to be left out of the picture.
In the Shire Conference, it's down to Mirkwood, Old Forest and Bucklebury for the final 2 spots. Mirkwood is 4 games ahead of Old Forest in the Elf Division, but the schedule gives the Merry Fellows every opportunity to close the gap. The Marauders play 3 games with Old Forest before finishing up with a 4 game set with Minas Tirith. Meanwhile, Old Forest winds up with 4 against Rivendell. Both the Titans and the Royals will be looking to play spoiler after starting the season in the thick of things then trailing off down the stretch.
Bucklebury and Old Forest are tied for the Wild Card with 7 games left. While the Merry Fellows battle for their division crown, the Fairies have to get past a 3-game set with Carrock, then wind up with 4 games against Bree! This could get ugly.
It's all but over in Mordor, as the Hops have a 6 game lead over Grey Havens with 7 to go. Meanwhile, the Stars must lose all 7 games while Dagorlad wins 7 in order to miss out on the Wild Card. The interesting thing will be if Misty Mountain gets swept by Dead Marshes in their 3-game series. Then, the Stars-Hops 4-game series to wind up the season will take on a whole new meaning.
