Hall of Famer to lace up cleats again
BREE - He retired 5 years ago. He was elected to the Hall of Fame 3 years ago. He holds the record for the lowest season ERA (1.59), was named to the Mordor All-Star Team 3 years in a row, and won the 2005 Gandalf Pitcher Award--all with Rohan. So, what in the world is Legeron Iseomer doing in a Bree uniform?
According to sources close to the team, the Bree native was approached for a coaching job when Cheese GM Butterburr mused about needing to get his pitching rotation ready for the playoffs. With just 7 games left, Butterburr was trying to figure out the best way to rest his front line starters without calling up a minor leaguer for a week. That's when Iseomer, 43, offered to pitch one more game for his future employer.
"I always wanted to pitch for the home team," Legeron said. "My career path just never went that way. This will be fun. I just hope my arm doesn't fall off!"
