Misty Mountain Wins League Title
Everything came together for Misty Mountain, as they won their first league championship trophy, defeating the Old Forest Merry Fellows in 6 games. Sorrel Amblestar was on fire, winning 2 more games to go 6-0 in the playoffs and take home the Bilbo Playoff MVP award for the Mordor Conference.
In Game 1, Amblestar shut out Old Forest on 4 hits for a 4-0 victory. Game 2 saw Ulor 'Popcorn' Témir shut down the Merry Fellows, allowing just 1 run on 5 hits in 8 innings.
Old Forest came back in Game 3 with a brilliant pitching performance by last year's Gandalf Pitcher Award winner, Frodo Chubb. He tossed a NO-HITTER--the first in league playoff history--for the 7-0 win.
Amblestar won his 6th straight playoff victory in Game 4, 8-4, giving the Hops a 3-1 series lead.
Ex-Hop, Gwomer Grailas took it to his old team in Game 5, shutting them down over 8 innings, while Témir gave up the lone run of the game.
Finally, in the bottom of the 7th of Game 6, with Old Forest leading 4-3, 'Panther' Forfilas rapped a double down the left field line, scoring Hunrik the Untidy and ex-Merry Fellow, Rognash Kidneyslammer, with the tying and go-ahead runs. Misty Mountain won the game and the championship, 5-4.
Sorrel Amblestar and Frodo Chubb were named Bilbo Playoff MVP for their respective conferences.
