Shock in Isengard as new GM is named
ISENGARD - A hastily called press conference today in Isengard was held to announce the hiring of a new general manager. The new GM, Ragnar Stonecutter, has no previous experience with the league, but he assures the fans that there is nothing to worry about.
"Isengard has it's problems right now, there is no doubt. I know the fans of this franchise long for a champion... and I am here to help build them one. I specifically wanted Isengard as I have researched its foundations... and they are STRONG. So I say - do not be dismayed - our future is coming. We still have a lot of building to do, but when it is complete... we will be a force to be reckoned with."
In keeping with the build from within plan, the new GM's first action was to reject a trade from Mirkwood. The proposed trade would have sent several good, but older, players to lowly Isengard in return for 4 highly ranked propects and Isengards first round draft pick. The GM had this to say, "We have no intention of trading away our future... We intend to build with what we have... and sign a few free agents to bolster us until that future is ready. We will also be looking to trade some of our more mature players for draft picks... So to all other managers - send me your messengers if you are interested."
Will Stonecutter be able to pull this off? The jaded fans in Isengard aren't so sure. We will check back in to see how things have progressed as the new season gets under way.
