Khazad-dum Stadium moves to Dimrill Dale

MORIA - Reporters were surprised this Sunday when they were summoned to gather not in the gloom of Balin's Tomb, but on the peaceful grounds of the Dimrill Dale between the Eastern gates of Moria and Lothlorien. PR Spokeswoman, Heodwyn SoftVoice, announced that Moria would be building a "collapsible stadium" within the Dale, and read a short release written by Moria owner, Brandelion.

"A new day has come for the dwarves of Moria," Heodwyn read. "After toiling many long years in the dark, we now find in our hearts a welcoming of peace and prosperity. Most of the orc carcasses have been cleared from the halls of the mine, and the Bridge of Khazad-dum has been fully repaired. Moria is once again a bustling place full of life, craft, and song. With these things in mind, we have turned our hearts to the peace of the Azanulbizar (Dimrill Dale in the Common Speech) where Dain son of Nain once stood, overlooking this magnificent lake the dwarves of old called Kheled-zaram, or Mirrormere."

Moria's current ball field, Khazad-dum Stadium, is located deep underground near where the Balrog and Gandalf the Grey once fell, beneath the famous Bridge.

"The stadium was built in a time when the SGCBL was still new," said Heodwyn. "There weren't as many fans, then, and no one was quite sure if this Solonor Rasreth character could keep interest going in a sport so foreign to our lands. As time has passed and the league has grown, Moria's fans have increased as well - we are finding it difficult to seat everyone." Heodwyn then added that "the stone from the stadium under the Bridge will be quarried for other things, and the area will be restored according to its original, historic state."

After several shouted questions, Heodwyn then explained the meaning of "collapsible stadium" to the gathered press.

"Both Queen Brandelion and General Manager Jools were deeply concerned about the effect a large ball field would have on the beauty of the Dale. They commissioned some of the finest dwarven engineers to find an amicable solution, and, through their craft, the dwarves have engineered a stadium that is unshakably upright when in use - but folds neatly into slots hidden by turf when the Miners are away."

The new stadium is expected to be completed this month, and will be known as The Field at Dimrill Dale.
