Shire evens All-Star series with 12-inning win

MISTY MTN - In what was expected to be a battle of the bats, the league's best hitters took 12 innings before they could get anything going. Despite a nice breeze blowing out to right, the pitching prowess of both the Shire and Mordor squads were too much for even the likes of Fyrith, Faromli, Balrog Slayer, Ruano and Goblinarm. Both teams emptied their benches and their bullpens by the 9th, leaving Old Forest's Frodo Chubb to face off against Weathertop closer, Ronald Husband.

In the top of the 12th, Rhedry Scimitar of Minas Tirith led off the inning with a line single to left. Rivendell's Boris Ruano followed with a smash up the middle that was gloved by a diving Tanta Chubb, preventing a runners-at-the-corners situation. But a wild pitch to Nuukor Gnomekicker of Lake Town allowed both runners to advance. After striking out Gnomekicker, light-hitting infielder, Tonak 'Wild Eyes' Nosethrower of Mirkwood got one up into the wind and parked a deep drive 444-feet into right field for a 3-run homer. Frodo Chubb worked through the bottom of the 12th with ease, and the Shire Conference picked up the 3-0 victory.

Chubb was the winner and named player of the game. The All-Star series is now tied at 6 games apiece.
