Mirkwood Catcher Hurt
MIRKWOOD - It took the Mirkwood team doctor a while to realize it, but catcher Curt Ballscarer won't simply play through his strained back muscle, after he got hurt running the bases in the July 30 Titans-Marauders game. At first, it looked like Ballscarer might be back in the lineup as early as the next day, but now it looks like the prognosis isn't quite so good; he's expected to miss at least 3 weeks. A spokesman for the club described the loss of Ballscarer as a blow, but was confident that he'd be back swinging the bat better than ever.
In his stats this season, Ballscarer has posted a batting average of .265 with 99 hits in 373 at-bats, no home runs and 35 RBIs. He has also scored 38 runs, walked 16 times, and compiled a .318 OBP.
