Minas Morgul Minors Sweep

MINAS MORGUL - The Slayers organization has a reason to be happy this September as their minor league teams each won their respective level's league championships.

For Lithlad, the repeat as Class A champions, actually played a little "worse" than they did last season during the regular season. This year, they won 93 games, six less than last season. Of course, it could have been even more of a drop if they had the supposed "should have" record of 107-13. Pitching again was the big weapon for Lithlad, lead by Kinnosuke and his 21-3, 1.53 ERA

For Gorgoroth, they played far better than last year, and claimed the Class AA championship after posting a 95-25 record during the regular season. Stormrage and Chiselbiter were the big two in the pitching rotation while Sakura Silkpetal showed well with an .840 OPS while Mortak the Malicious (who?) led the offense with a 40 VORP. However, that paled to the 60 VORP Stormrage posted. Again, pitching was the big weapon, posting a higher combined VORP than the offense.

For Nurn, it was another second mediocre season between April and August, but again in September, they turned it up a notch to win the Championship. This year, the team "backed into" the playoffs, losing their last 5 games to barely hold on to the division. However, they played very well in the playoffs to pull out the title. Despite scouts souring on her, Nightflower posted a nice 0.96 ERA and 10 saves while Florez won 13 and had a 3.26 ERA.

The organization now turns to the major league team and awaits their foray into the postseason.

"There's pressure on us." Mathilda spoke, "The minors all won their leagues and between that and the season we had, people in Minas Morgul are going to be disappointed with anything less. Oh well, we are professionals and this is why we play the game." Mathilda smiled.

The Slayers hope the leadership of Mathilda can help the dryads do well.
