Trade winds blow in Rivendell

RIVENDELL - Rivendell officials have refused to comment on a rumored trade involving 2014 Shire Conference Sam Gamgee Batter Boris Ruano. Word leaked out of the Royals camp late last week that strong consideration was being given to dealing the slugger in order to cut payroll and shore up infield weaknesses. No hints have been given as to the possible trade partner, but the deal in the works is said to be a blockbuster involving several top-of-the-line talents and a number of early draft picks.

Ruano's award-winning performance last year was the best of his career; he hit .295 with 43 HRs, 133 RBI, and a .944 OPS. This season his numbers have dropped off a bit, and recently his manager has shifted him to a center field platoon, so poor has his performance been against left handed pitchers. As of May 25th, he's hitting just .239 with a .725 OPS. A career .279 hitter who has hit 208 home runs in over 7 years in the majors, Ruano will surely be looking to pick up the pace and earn his $12.5M/year paycheck.
