Shire Wins All-Star Game
OLD FOREST - It was hot, timely hitting by the Shire that most will credit with their 7-3 win in the 13th annual All-Star Game, but the fact that Shire pitchers held the Mordor squad hitless through the first 5 innings cannot be overlooked. Shire starter, Glodunter Bromburg of Bywater, pitched 3 perfect innings and was followed by single scoreless frames notched by Reaver *Elfheim of Minas Tirith and Rivendell's Sillla Glebrilad. Meanwhile, Gragar Drowslobberer of Lothlorien, starting his 2nd straight All-Star Game for the Mordor Conference, was not so lucky. He gave up a 2-run HR to the Royals' Loopy *Squishmasher in the 3rd inning.
Mordor came back with a run in the top of the 6th when Minas Morgul shortstop, Agnes Fernia singled home Isszava Eliondel of the Grey Havens Stars. However, in the bottom of that inning, the Shire scored 3 off a 2-run single from pinch-hitter Michaele Palafox of Rivendell and an RBI double by Bywater's Lester Pulley. Palafox struck again in the 8th with an RBI double, scoring on a fielder's choice later in the inning.
In the top of the 9th, Misty Mountain catcher, Arghren Glimmerhand punched a 2-run single through the left side, making the score 7-3.
The winning pitcher was *Elfheim. The loser was Drowslobberer. Michale Palafox was named Player of the Game. The Shire now leads the All-Star series 7 games to 6.
