Hall of Fame Inducts Starting Pitcher
Today was a historic day that Gwomer Grailas will never forget.
Today the superb pitcher was installed into the Tolkien Baseball Hall of Fame alongside the great baseball immortals of the past.
He was introduced by one of his former managers, who said, "He was the best I have seen in my lifetime. Gwomer was a fabulous pitcher. The key to his success was that he threw the ball as far from the bat and as close to the plate as possible."
The talented pitcher retired from baseball at 37, but not before he notched 160 victories. Overall in his illustrious career, Gwomer Grailas was 160-86 with a 3.13 ERA. He made 359 mound appearances and struck out 1763 in 2286.1 innings.
Grailas brought down the house with his gleeful closing remarks, "This is really a sad day for me. I've never had a job. I've always played baseball. I guess I'll have to go to work now."
Of the rest of the field on the ballot, Mohair *Catsquisher was just 1 vote shy of election and got 71% of the vote. He'll get another chance next year. As will Geadriel Gamialf, who finished with 64 percent, and the trio of Gandogast Fadrier, Imrohil Haleogast, and Thuralia Nilad who all got 57%.
Only 3 players failed to make the minimum 25 percent to remain on the ballot. So, Olorin *Orithil falls off after his 4th attempt. Grimli Goramir exits after 5 tries. And Pruugor Hearteater is eliminated in his first year on the ballot.
