Curt Ballscarer earned his nickname "The Bat" by using his to great effect. Ballscarer set the Shire Conference record for batting average, hitting .403 in 2010, the first of only 2 players in history to reach the .400 mark. That year he also had 231 Hits (a record since surpassed). When he retired, Ballscarer was 4th on the all-time list for hits (2,368), batting average (.326), and 2nd in singles (1,734) and doubles (536).

One of his manager's summed up his career very well: "You saw him standing out there on the diamond and you knew you had a pretty darn good chance to win the baseball game."
