Shire wins All-Star Game 11-10 in extra inningsSunday, July 2nd, 2028 RAVENHILL - The Shire Conference staged an amazing comeback in the 26th All-Star Game, winning it in 10 innings and claiming a 14-12 lead in the mid-season series over Mordor....
Mordor started the scoring early when Thraryn *Samarkand of Dead Marshes hit a towering homer to straight away center on the first pitch their team saw from Shire starter, Galugol Eliolas of Minas Ithil.
The Shire staged their first rebound when Elle-Rhonda *Hubbard of Old Forest singled home the Titans' Pugnash Humanslurper from third and her teammate, Wart Wolfgobber, who scored from second. Right fielder Brandon Burrus' throw to the plate sailed over the catcher's head, allowing *Hubbard to take second on the play. At that point, the Shire lead was 2-1.
In the bottom of the 6th, the Mordor bats lit up the rain-soaked skies. After a 41 minute rain delay, Dol Guldur's Norman *Xanatos tied the score with a single, scoring Lothlorien's Mark Sheppard from 2B. James *Monkeyslayer of Dunharrow followed up with a single, and after a ground out put *Xanatos and *Monkeyslayer at 2nd and 3rd, Betsie Hilldweller of Dagorlad was intentionally walked to load the bases. That's when Weathertop's Nusin Ditchdigger stepped up and hit a GRAND SLAM to left making the score 6-2 in favor of Mordor. But the inning wasn't done. Sheppard had another opportunity to bat in the inning, and he launched his own 3-run shot to left, making it 9-2 Mordor.
Vrung Smiddlefidget of Isengard drove in another run with an RBI single in the 7th, and it looked like Mordor would cruise to victory on a 10-2 lead.
But the Shire wasn't packing it in just yet. Ufrat Moonkiller of Minas Ithil hit a solo shot in the 8th to cut the lead to 10-3. Then, in the top of the 9th, after Minto Mulhall of Old Forest hit a 1-out pinch single, Pugnash Humanslurper doubled, and Wolfgobber was hit by a pitch. That brought up pinch hitter Brutus *Trollbasher of the Wyrms who parked a GRAND SLAM for the Shire over the right field wall to cut the lead to 10-7.
A walk to Honeysuckle Bridger of Carrock and a single by Moonkiller put the tying run at the plate in the person of Scarlett *III of Bucklebury. She took a 1-0 fastball so far out of the park that they stopped measuring after 472 feet for a game-tying 3-run homer.
In the top of the 10th, Wolfgobber came up with one out and hit a solo homerun for the Shire, making the score 11-10. And teammate Celain Gadrienduil came on to drop the side in order in the bottom of the inning and seal the Shire victory.
The game winner was Moria's Darryl Monkey-shines, and Gadrienduil got the save. Proddo Pieweto of Isengard was tagged with the loss. Nusin Ditchdigger was named Player of the Game.

Gondor's Freodriel Elrymbor started off the game by walking Bucklebury's Scarlett Mawaan and Mirkwood's Curt Ballscarer and followed that with a wild pitch, putting runners at 2nd and 3rd with no one out. After Imrilron of Old Forest struck out, Rivendell's Loopy Squishmasher grounded to first, scoring Mawaan. Carrock's Trik Rider then singled home Ballscarer. Minto Foxburr of Bucklebury followed with another walk, and Lake Town's Denamir Eärindel hit a 2-run double, scoring Rider and Foxburr.
Shire starter, Ban Arwodur of Bree, didn't have it any easier in the bottom of the inning. Numenor's Theo Nering singled and reached second on an error by Eärindel. After a wild pitch put Nering at third, Arwodur hit Kadish Ettinripper of Minas Morgul, putting runners at the corners with nobody out. Grey Havens first baseman, Golligast Gandulbo grounded into a double play that scored Nering. A solo homer by Dagorlad's Gamilas Eowil-Galad made the score 4-2. Isengard's Boran Armormasher doubled and scored on an RBI single by Grukak Dwarfcrawler of Grey Havens. Meroman Legeolbo of Numenor followed with a single, and Isengard's Olorin Orithil knocked home the 4th run of the inning with a hit.
In the 2nd, the Shire scored 2 more runs, Mawaan scoring on an RBI single by Imrilron and Imrilron driven home by Squishmasher, to make it 6-4.
Mordor made it a 1-run game in the 3rd when Legeolbo hit a double to the gap in left-center that scored Dwarfcrawler.
The Shire got that run back in the top of the 4th when pinch hitter Balin Bloodspear of Minas Tirith singled, stole second and scored on a hit by Mawaan. They added another run to make it 8-5 when Imrilron doubled home Ballscarer.
In the bottom of the 6th, Nering singled, stole second and scored on a hit by Ettinripper, making it 8-6. They finally took the lead for good in the 7th, scoring 3 runs via an RBI single by Dwarfcrawler and a bases-loaded hit by Orithil that plated 2.
In the top of the 9th, the Shire opened up with a hit from Imrilron, but Squishmasher grounded out on a very close throw from Numenor third baseman Wong Trollraper. Shire team manager, Thranduil Elvenking of Mirkwood, was very upset with the call and got himself ejected while arguing with the first base umpire.
The final score was 11-8. Libur Irontearer of Rohan got credit for the win, while Old Forest's Suukak Nosecrawler got tagged with the loss. Misty Mountain's Vruuhai Throatslobber picked up a save.
