    Hrm… d’ya think they had pimply-faced bored teens (like I was) back in ancient Rome, playing D&D instead of… well, whatever the hell they were supposed to be doing, I guess. Making Roman candles, or turning letters into numerals. Whatever.

    The best part about the die from Christie’s is that they haven’t deciphered the symbols. So as long as you pay more attention than your dungeonmates, you can always roll a twenty! Or a one, when you need it. They’re all little unidentifiable squiggly symbols — how’re the little snots in your neighborhood gonna tell you you’re wrong?

    big deal. i have an ancient sumerian 4-sided-die that aided in slaying a true neutral gnome that was really bugging the heck out of me. he kept stepping on my shoes. i told him to stop, but he just wouldn’t listen to me.
