Should we tell him about the golden calf idol?

I love the people in our church. Especially the choir.

Our pastor and organist were gone last week, and we had guests in their places. This week as we gathered outside the sanctuary to get ready to go in for the service, the pastor asked me how it went last week. I said, “Fine…a few people got up and left when we started praying to Satan, but other than that…”

This opened the floodgates for the rest of the wise-asses in the bass section.

“Yeah, the sacrifice got kinda messy.”
“Maybe we should have put a tarp down.”
“It wasn’t that so much as the smell.”
“The kids loved it, though.”

He just rolled his eyes and continued with our ritual of a little prayer before going in. As is usual in these circumstances, he added a pause and heavy sigh after saying “God…” (which always elicits giggling from us juveniles).

What made it really funny, though, was when we sat down and our organist launched into Bach’s Toccata in D-minor for the prelude.

You may not know it by name, but you’ll know it when you hear it. Trust me.

Just watch this amazing video of it being played by Karl Richter:

The only piece (so far as we know) that always makes my dog howl is Bach’s Toccata in D-minor. It’s a delightful accompaniment if I don’t say so myself.

And…aren’t you the grown up with your own domain and all! Congratulations!

    Well…something looks different!
