Well, I took a wee break from the blograce today to drive up to St. Augustine. We had intended to do that Saturday, but after walking a hundred miles around the World Showcase Lagoon at Epcot Friday, we decided to veg this weekend.
I forgot how much cool stuff there is to see up there (assuming you’re a history nerd). So, naturally, we took our sweet time getting up there (including lengthy stops at Cracker Barrel for breakfast and at a bead shop in Ormond Beach. (The female half of the traveling party are quite crafty and needed to feed their beading habit.) Since we didn’t arrive until a couple of hours before all the historical attractions close, we’re going back on Wednesday.
I did a Google search for St. Augustine sights, and found a nice one at Coping.org Travelogue – St. Augustine.
i’m glad that you had a good time. hey uh, christine is taking a look at that too. she being on diff time zone may have it up before we wake up eh?…lol thanks hun. *hugs*
I love St. Augustine. 🙂 The parents of one of my old boyfriends had a condo near there, so he and I used to go on vacation there once or twice a year. There are some really great shops in that cobblestone street area. (It’s been many years since I was last there, I don’t remember what the area is called.)
Have fun!
If you want the low-down on St. Auggie, lemme know. Being only 30 minutes away from there, I know a lot about it.
My grandmother lived in St. Augustine for about 80 of her 96 years – I appreciated it so much more fter living in Europe. It looks like a little tiny Nice.
BTW, my grandmother’s name was Mattie May >>Norton
The heck you say! You might be a long lost cousin. Howdy, cuz!! 🙂
