Alright, so I should've posted something sooner but I went into another slump. Anyway, it hasn't been on my mind for the past few days.
On Sunday, I went to the mall with my mother to pick up a book for some studying for my CCNA. Getting this particular networking certification is very important to me, not because I plan to use it for the rest of my life, but because I've been studying for two years to get it and I want to be able to put CCNA after my name on business cards. Once I finally do get it, I plan to print out cards and spend some time in public places handing them out. Maybe I'll stop by the local Community College and encourage the 40 year old aspiring CCNAs.
"Hey, studying for your CCNA, huh?"
"Why, yes I am, little boy, how cute it is that you're inter-"
"Yeah...I've got it."
I spent the rest of Sunday reading until we went out to eat. That night I noticed that I had developed a bit of a sore throat.
Monday I woke up with a terrible headache, couldn't swallow, and could barely walk. Studying was out of the question.
My mother decided to take me to get a test for strep throat. That's when it all went horribly wrong. (Saying that it all went horribly wrong at that point may actually be the wrong choice of words since it already was horribly wrong, in my opinion. Though, I think it's better than saying "It all got horribly wronger")
The heat incited yet another of life's great pleasures: Vomiting without having had anything to eat or drink all day.
Anyway, we got to CentraCare and, after a few hours in the waiting room, we were able to see a doctor who's reaction was something like "DEAR GOD! GO TO THE HOSPITAL, BOY! YOU'RE SUPER-DEHYDRATED!"
So it was off to the hospital to wait.
I have yet to find a word to describe the waiting. It would have to be a hybrid of "pain", "discomfort", and "interminable"..."discominapainful" yeah, that's it. The waiting was discominapainful.
When the waiting was over I got a strep test...twice. (They lost the first one)
I got an IV...twice. (My right arm wasn't good enough apparently)
I fell asleep somewhere in the middle of my second bag of saline and woke up feeling like a rock. I could barely lift my legs, let alone sit up. Once home, I quickly fell asleep again.
I wonder if the school will still pay for my CCNA exam...
Thus ends the biggest whine in my history...good night.
Posted by Paul at May 29, 2003 01:32 AM Eh, that's not really a whine, that's simply reporting the facts, perhaps with a bit of embellishment. I'm sure you can really whine appropriately if/and when necessary.
Glad you're on the mend. That stuff ain't no fun, no how. Good choice on which parent to take to the doctors, though. Imagine you dear old Dad trying to watch you get an IV! hee hee
Take care, and more ginger ale.
Sorry, Whiny, they won't. Besides if I did not pass it the first time, neither will you...
Posted by: DaProber on May 30, 2003 05:57 PMWow, I read your dad's mini-update, and figured I'd come over here to get the better scoop. Wow! Not fun at all. Hope you are feeling MUCH better. :)
