Hill Finishes Off Royals 5-4 for 400th Save

Rowan Hill had been especially quiet lately, not wanting too talk too much about anything. Hill knew that an amazing milestone was on the horizon for him. All the fabled bullpen ace needed was one more successful inning or two to achieve a special place in baseball history. The thought of it turned the talkative Hill silent.

But Hill’s emotions erupted after he retired the Rivendell Royals to preserve the Minas Morgul Slayers 5-4 victory and record the 400th save of his Tolkien Baseball career.

One of the Slayers players told reporters, “It’s an amazing feat. It’s probably the only time that any of us will ever have a teammate get 400 saves.”

Over his career Hill has a 82-79 won-lost record with a 3.16 ERA. In 940 games he has recorded 400 saves, and the 36-year-old has fanned 1578 batters in 1283 innings.
