Veteran Elvarara Hits Three Dingers

Fans are still buzzing after Dol Guldur whipped the Lake Town Archers by the score of 8-6 today at Lake Town Park.

Elegrina Elvarara smashed three home runs in the contest, a feat that would be a career highlight for most players and few fans ever see. In a tremendous performance, the right fielder bashed out 4 hits in 4 at-bats, had 3 RBIs and scored 3 times.

At the postgame press conference, Elvarara said it was an “unbelievable” feeling to hit three home runs in a game.

“Getting one homer is special, and two is great,” Elvarara said. “Three is just… wow.”

Elegrina Elvarara hit a solo-shot off Paul the Gru in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Paul the Gru in the 4th, walked in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off Paul the Gru in the 8th, singled in the 9th and walked in the 11th.

Dragons Contreras August’s #1 Pitcher

Veteran Hashi Contreras put together quite a successful stretch in August for the Dol Guldur Dragons, earning himself the Mordor Conference Pitcher of the Month award.

Contreras racked up a 6-0 record in 6 starts, posting a 2.03 ERA over 44.1 innings and striking out 22.

Contreras has made 13 starts this season, posting 7 wins and 3 losses. Opposing clubs are batting .220 against him and he has 46 strikeouts in 80.1 innings with a 2.24 ERA.

MC Premier Player Picked

A battle-tested Norman *Xanatos declared war on opposing pitchers last week, attacking the ball like the well-schooled veteran he is. Today the 34-year-old Dol Guldur catcher collected the Mordor Conference Player of the Week Award.

He wrapped up the week with a .640 average, 16 hits in 25 at-bats, 3 home runs, 5 RBIs and 6 runs scored.

Currently *Xanatos is hitting .381 and has collected 11 home runs, 32 RBIs and scored 38 times, while playing in 68 games.

Joe Graves to Miss 4-5 Months

A blow for Joe Graves today — team doctors confirmed he will miss 4-5 months with shoulder inflammation. Graves suffered the injury throwing a pitch. Although officials from the Dol Guldur Dragons are confident he’ll make a full recovery, doubts will persist about Graves’s ability to return fully fit with an injury of this nature.

For this year Graves has chalked up 4 wins and 2 losses in 9 starts with 41 strikeouts in 59.2 innings and a 4.07 ERA.

Season Ends for Hidush Nosehammer of Dol Guldur

A blow for Hidush Nosehammer today — team doctors confirmed he will miss 9 months with a ruptured disc. Nosehammer suffered the injury throwing a pitch. Although officials from the Dol Guldur Dragons are confident he’ll make a full recovery, doubts will persist about Nosehammer’s ability to return fully fit with an injury of this nature.

Up to this point in the season, Nosehammer has put up these stats: 34 relief appearances, 17 saves, 43 IP, 41 strikeouts and 0.84 ERA. His won-lost record is 3-1 with the opposition is hitting .146 against him.

Dragons End Footthrower’s Streak

It was the best of both worlds for the Dol Guldur Dragons today at Dunharrow Field, as they defeated the Dunharrow Devils 3-2 and also snapped Prignash Footthrower’s 24-game hitting streak. The 29-year-old Dunharrow center fielder failed to get a hit in 4 at-bats.

“Nothing personal against Footthrower, we just wanted to win the game,” said Dragons skipper Lura Galindil. “We did a great job keeping him off-balance and guessing.”

When asked by reporters about his streak coming to an end, Footthrower frowned and said, “I won’t lie and say that I’m not disappointed about it, but I’d feel much better if we had won.”

For the year Footthrower is batting .341 with 2 home runs.

Veteran Graves Agrees to 2-Year Deal

Joe Graves, one of the game’s marquee talents, opted for the Dragons after receiving a 2-year, $40,000,000 offer.

Since his debut in the league, Graves has posted 191 victories and 81 defeats with an ERA of 2.81.

MC Hands Out Gwaihir Reliever Award

His manager and teammates call Francesco McKilligin a true bullpen ace.

The Mordor Conference calls him the winner of the Gwaihir Reliever Award for 2037.

The Dol Guldur Dragons relief specialist out of Minas Tirith, Human Lands, won the award with 47 saves in 81 relief appearances, 113 strikeouts in 85 innings and 24 walks.

He compiled a record of 7 wins and 4 losses and had a 2.01 ERA.

He received 14 first place votes out of a possible 24. Thubis Gadrienduil of the Misty Mountain Hops finished second in voting with 8 first place votes, while Elendil Tinond of the Dunharrow Devils finished third with 1 first place vote.

Mordor Conference Troll Division Won: Dol Guldur Crowned

The Dol Guldur Dragons clubhouse more closely resembled a college party tonight as the team officially captured the Mordor Conference Troll Division.

Beers were flowing freely, champagne was being sprayed and loud music blared as players and coaches alike celebrated the accomplishment.

“It’s not often you get to kick back and let loose with your teammates,” said reliever Holfast Dap. “We’re earned the right to party a little bit. And then we can focus on getting it done in the playoffs.”

Team manager Lura Galindil said even the coaching staff can enjoy occasions like this.

“I’m proud of my guys, they deserve this,” he said.

It’s the 7th division championship for the team and they will be seeking their 2nd Tolkien Baseball championship.
