MC Pick for Top Pitcher in April is Chiselarm

Veteran Eva Chiselarm put together quite a successful stretch in April for the Dunharrow Devils, earning herself the Mordor Conference Pitcher of the Month award.

Chiselarm racked up a 5-0 record in 5 starts, posting a 2.02 ERA over 40 innings and striking out 36.

Veteran Re-Signs with Devils

Dunharrow received a bit of good news today as their catcher Camelia Ploughman accepted a $8,500,000-a-year offer that will keep her in a Devils uniform for 5 years.

Huugdish Gnomebasher Out 4 Months

When Huugdish Gnomebasher was hurt against the Ravenhill Darkwings, the Dunharrow Devils were hopeful that the injury was not serious. However, it proved to be more severe than first thought. The 31-year-old closer suffered shoulder inflammation throwing a pitch in yesterday’s game. Team doctors told BNN today that Gnomebasher would miss 4 months of the season.

CL Gnomebasher to Dunharrow

The Dunharrow front office announced the signing of Huugdish Gnomebasher today as the team’s new closer. The 30-year-old came to terms with the Devils and will be hauling in $5,400,000 a year over 1 year.

Gnomebasher has collected 225 saves over his 396-game career with 543 strikeouts and 201 walks, a won-lost record of 35-20 and a 2.24 ERA.

Devils Win Sweepstakes for SP Lómebrildur

The Dunharrow Devils have called a press conference later today to announce the signing of starting pitcher Lantai Lómebrildur to a 6-year, $75,600,000 contract.

Both Lómebrildur and the Devils are said to be very pleased to come to this agreement.

Lómebrildur has collected 90 wins and 83 losses over his career with a 3.87 ERA. The 31-year-old hurler also has struck out 1519 batters in 1543.1 innings and allowed 1449 hits.

Gilmore Awarded MC Rookie of the Year

Todo Gilmore’s age didn’t show very often in his first year. He performed more like a veteran on the hill for the Dunharrow Devils and today he walked away with the 2036 Mordor Conference Frodo Rookie Award.

The 23-year-old starter registered a 13-6 record this season in 32 starts. Over 229 innings he gave up 205 hits, struck out 169 and issued 54 walks as he held the opposition to a .241 batting average and fashioned a 2.99 ERA.

Gorbaduc Bramble of the Minas Morgul Slayers finished second in voting, while Maximo Charneca of the Lothlorien Lumberjacks finished third.

Devils Are Champs of Mordor Conference Orc Division

The Dunharrow Devils are champions of the Mordor Conference Orc Division, but don’t plan the parade quite yet.

“It’s a nice accomplishment, but we haven’t done anything until we win the Return of the King Series,” said starting pitcher Gruudash Facestomper. “We’re going to celebrate this for sure, but the real celebration is still to come for fans in Dunharrow.”

The club’s record currently sits at 89-67. It is the team’s 5th division title and they will be seeking the franchise’s 2nd Tolkien Baseball championship.

Team manager Eeolf Fistripper said he’ll take some time to celebrate the division title, but then it’s “back to work” for members of the team and coaching staff.

Dunharrow’s Sandyman Down with Injury

The Dunharrow Devils were informed today by team doctors that right fielder Bill Sandyman sustained a sprained ankle in a recent game against the Grey Havens Stars and will not play for 4 weeks. Sandyman was hurt making a defensive play.

In his stats this season, Sandyman has posted a batting average of .285 with 151 hits in 529 at-bats, 22 home runs and 68 RBIs. He has also scored 65 runs, walked 108 times and compiled a .406 OBP.

Playoff Bound: Dunharrow Secures Wild Card

87-66 is the mark that the Dunharrow Devils needed to officially qualify for this year’s playoffs.

Although the Mordor Conference Orc Division hasn’t yet been captured, Dunharrow can rest easy knowing they have a guaranteed spot in the postseason.

“But the hard work doesn’t stop now, it’s only just beginning,” said starting pitcher Gruudash Facestomper.

Devils Humanslurper Injured

The Devils received bad news this morning. Pugnash Humanslurper will miss 5 weeks due to a broken collarbone. He sustained the injury in the Dunharrow-Weathertop game while being hit by a pitch. “I’m disappointed more than anything,” he told reporters later in the day. “You can’t help your team on the bench,” Humanslurper sighed. “I’ll do the rehab work and hope for a quick recovery.”

This year Humanslurper is batting .271 with 109 hits and 18 home runs. He has scored 60 times and has batted in 57 runs.
