Best MC Reliever Named

The Dol Guldur Dragons will no doubt have to pony up some big cash if they want to keep star reliever Hidush Nosehammer.

That’s because the 29-year-old today was named the Mordor Conference Gwaihir Reliever Award winner for 2039.

As it stands now, he’s heading for free agency unless his team can put forward an extension offer. As of yet, there’s been no word about an impending deal.

Nosehammer captured the award with a 1.13 ERA this season over 80 innings of work. He made 71 relief appearances and had 32 saves, 70 strikeouts, 8 walks and a record of 6 and 5. Opposing hitters managed only a .224 against him.

Bogak Cavernshaker of the Misty Mountain Hops finished second in voting, while Francesco McKilligin of the Dol Guldur Dragons finished third.

MC’s Top Pitcher is Brandybuck

The votes are in for the 2039 Mordor Conference Gandalf Pitcher Award. It has been bestowed on Asphodel Brandybuck of the Lothlorien Lumberjacks.

The 28-year-old Lumberjacks ace finished the year with a 18-9 mark, logged 33 starts, threw 262.1 innings, yielded 195 hits, struck out 262 and held the opposition to a .205 batting average.

Gruudash Facestomper of the Dunharrow Devils finished second in voting, while Todo Gilmore of the Dunharrow Devils finished third.

2039 MC #1 Star is Ravenhill’s *Baggins

Forerunner *Baggins of the Ravenhill Darkwings proved that you can step out of the shadows and onto the stage if you’ve got the talent and the drive to hone your skills. Hard work, long hours and a tireless resolve paid off for him today in the form of the Mordor Conference Sam Gamgee Batter.

*Baggins hit for a .350 average while collecting 202 hits, 18 doubles, 1 triple, 56 home runs, 125 RBIs and scoring 144 times.

Issth Foriand of the Misty Mountain Hops finished second in voting, while Ragnar *Stonecutter III of the Isengard Raiders finished third.

Trollgobbler Gets Award for Relief Work

The Gwaihir Reliever Award goes to the Shire Conference reliever who put forward the strongest season.

This season, that player was Ludrak Trollgobbler of the Mirkwood Sylvan, who was above all his peers in 2039.

“I just feel like the ball was doing what I wanted it to this year and I was in command most nights out there,” he said. “Some days you don’t have your best stuff, but I didn’t have too many of those days this year.”

On the season, Trollgobbler pitched 91.1 innings, with 96 strikeouts and an ERA of 2.27. He also had 46 saves in 81 relief appearances.

Gandealas Fáldur of the Rivendell Royals finished second in voting, while Celain Buckland of the Bywater Bounders finished third.

SC Names Gandalf Pitcher Award Winner

The Mirkwood Sylvan have a rising superstar or maybe even a budding Hall-of-Famer in the making.
It’s Elraugast Isaiwyn, this year’s Shire Conference Gandalf Pitcher Award selection. This blossoming hurler wowed fans, peers and sportswriters with a fabulous performance.

Isaiwyn compiled a 18-6 record in 33 starts, tallied 292 strikeouts in 253.1 innings and recorded a 2.13 ERA. Other clubs managed only a .214 batting average against him.

Jaime *Kingslayer of the Bucklebury Fairies finished second in voting, while Meriamli Rockcrusher of the Bree Cheese finished third.

Ferdinand *Puttifoot Named Premier SC Player

It’s been a year of triumph for veteran Ferdinand *Puttifoot of the Bywater Bounders as he hit his way to the 2039 Shire Conference Sam Gamgee Batter.

The 29-year-old veteran compiled a .311 average and .426 on-base percentage by putting together 177 hits, 25 doubles, no triples, 59 home runs and 114 walks. He also scored 115 times and drove in 132 runs.

DeForest *Hamrh of the Mirkwood Sylvan finished second in voting, while Giden Eladriewen of the Old Forest Merry Fellows finished third.

Munchkins Down Devils, Win Ultimate Fantasy Baseball Association Title

The Land of Oz Munchkins celebrated wildly after they eliminated the Dunharrow Devils in the Ultimate Fantasy Baseball Association title series by a 16-10 score. The triumph gave the Munchkins the series 4-2. And the celebration continued when they players hit the locker room and the party really began. The champagne flowed freely as the jubilant players passed around the championship trophy. “This is a great ending for a great season,” the victorious Land of Oz skipper told the reporters in the clubhouse. “Winning the Ultimate Fantasy Baseball Association doesn’t happen often in a career. This title is to be savored and remembered.” During the Fantasy League Division 2 regular season, the Munchkins compiled a record of 70-56 to finish first in the standings.

Sadish Heartwalker Wallops 3 Homers for Munchkins

The “hardest feat in sports” debate is a never-ending one with no correct answer, but hitting three home runs is certainly in the conversation. That’s exactly what Sadish Heartwalker did today at Land of Oz Fields, going deep three times and carrying his team to victory, 16-10.

“It all came together. I was seeing the ball well and I got some good pitches to hit,” Heartwalker said. “Good things happen, when that happens.”

The Land of Oz Munchkins right fielder blistered the Dunharrow Devils for 3 hits, batted in 6 runs and scored 3 times.

“It ain’t like we weren’t trying,” Dunharrow manager Tika Dap said. “He was hot and really torched my boys today.”

Sadish Heartwalker struck out in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Todo Gilmore in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Mumli Oakenarmour in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Elessar The Odd in the 6th and walked in the 8th.

Thus far this season in 91 games Heartwalker is batting .278 with 17 home runs, 50 RBIs and 52 runs scored. He has 99 hits in 356 at-bats.

Almost There: Oz On Cusp of Triumph After 9-6 Win

Land of Oz second baseman Hildibrand Bridger was the key at Dunharrow Field today, being named player of the game as she powered the Munchkins to victory in a critical Game 5 of the UFBL Championship. The Munchkins took the 9-6 win over the Dunharrow Devils to seize a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 series.

Tied up with the Devils in the top of the fifth inning, the Munchkins got a boost from first baseman Hong-bo Celiomir. With the bases loaded, Celiomir saw a 1-2 sinker from Lantai Lómebrildur and hit a 2-run double to break the stalemate and put Land of Oz on top, 6-4.

“The name of the game is scoring runs,” Bridger said. “We did a good job of that today.”

Game 6 is set to be played Saturday at Land of Oz Fields. Slated to start are Todo Gilmore for the Dunharrow Devils and Hosur Ringsmith for the the Land of Oz Munchkins.

All Tied Up! Devils Win At Home to Knot Series 2-2

The Dunharrow Devils have bounced back against the Land of Oz Munchkins in the UFBL Series, thanks to the veteran arm of Eva Chiselarm.

Chiselarm, 33, put on a dominant performance at Dunharrow Field today, leading the Devils to victory, 5-0, in a pivotal Game 4. Dunharrow has tied the best-of-7 series, 2-2..

Chiselarm pitched a complete game for Dunharrow. The right-hander was charged with no runs on 5 hits. Sh struck out 7 during her 126-pitch performance.

“If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities,” said Dunharrow manager Tika Dap.

Game 5 is scheduled for tomorrow at Dunharrow Field. The scheduled starters for the game are Farauron LeStrange for Land of Oz and Lantai Lómebrildur for Dunharrow.
