Veteran Cloudeye Agrees to 1-Year Deal

Cloudeye will earn $4,000,000 a year over 1 year and is expected to play a key role with the club.

The Titans pulled out all the stops today to announce the signing of reliever Bogak Cavernshaker. The 31-year-old is one of the game’s preeminent playmakers and has definitely proven why he was such an attractive signing.

The contract is a 1-year deal worth $15,200,000.

Cavernshaker has made 402 career appearances, rolling up a 37-28 record with 105 saves. In 438.1 innings he has fired a third strike past 429 batters, issued 168 free passes and held other teams to a .234 average.

James Pennypacker to Miss 6 Months

The 33-year-old reliever suffered shoulder inflammation throwing a pitch in yesterday’s game. Team doctors told BNN today that Pennypacker would miss 6 months of the season.

$3,840,000 Lands SP Hilldweller for Titans

But the signing came at too high a price, say longtime fans who think the club is too focused on players whose prime years have passed them by.

Dead Marshes Uruk-hai Ship Bridger to Minas Tirith

Done deal! The Dead Marshes Uruk-hai have agreed to send 29-year-old C Nicholas Bridger and 23-year-old C Legolas Weissmuller to the Minas Tirith Titans for 29-year-old LF Gusil Zayas. The trade, rumored for days, was completed in the wee hours this morning.

His all-time numbers show Bridger is carrying a .259 career batting average with 56 home runs and 174 RBIs.

Zayas is hitting .270 lifetime with 448 hits, 78 doubles, 13 triples, 12 home runs and 143 RBIs to date. He has scored 201 runs, walked 148 times and has a .337 OBP.

$16,800,000 Lands RF Denildriel for Titans

Titans officials hailed the signing of Rasin Denildriel as “an integral piece to our championship puzzle,” though fans were somewhat more reserved about the signing.

Denildriel will pocket $16,800,000 over 2 years.

In his career Denildriel has played in 695 games with a .266 batting average. Among his 480 hits are 64 doubles, 6 triples, and 99 home runs. He also has scored 209 runs, walked 98 times, has 24 stolen bases and driven in 275 runs.

Minas Tirith’s Simbelmyne Snaps Up Player of the Week

At the age of 28, Katie Simbelmyne might have some potential she hasn’t realized yet — if her success at the plate last week is any indication. The Minas Tirith left fielder put up some exceptional numbers the past seven days with a .615 batting average. For her efforts Simbelmyne collected the Shire Conference Player of the Week Award.

She racked up 16 hits in 26 at-bats, 1 home run and 5 RBIs last week in 6 games.

Presently Simbelmyne is batting .306 with 11 home runs and 65 RBIs. She has played in 142 games and scored 67 times.

Titans Mathematically Out of Playoffs

It has been a woeful season for the Minas Tirith Titans and now they have been officially eliminated from playoff contention.

“You always need some things to break your way to get into the playoffs,” said manager Derrick Croker. “And nothing broke our way this year.”

This is the club’s 3rd playoff miss in a row. They last appeared in the postseason in 2036. In the last 10 seasons, the Titans have missed the playoffs 4 times. In total, the Titans have missed the playoffs 26 times in their 36-year history.

Time Lords, Titans Swap Players

A trade was announced today at a press conference in Gallifrey. Not satisfied with their current roster, the Gallifrey Time Lords general manager shook things up by acquiring 29-year-old LHP Saravin Sathie, 20-year-old minor league RHP Mica Llatas and $250,000 in cash from the Minas Tirith Titans for 29-year-old 1B Grul Gnomekicker and 19-year-old minor league 2B Gwebrylla Peatfingers.

“We’re a better team now,” Time Lords general manager Phaiar Elrémbor said. “We’ve added several pieces to the puzzle.”

Thus far this year Gnomekicker is hitting .327 with 14 home runs, 35 RBIs and 30 runs scored.

Minas Tirith Sources Say Gamialf Gone as Manager

“I’m just a scapegoat,” said Geadriel Gamialf to reporters in the stadium parking lot after the Minas Tirith Titans announced his firing as manager early today. “You think I did a bad job? It’s the players who couldn’t hit, couldn’t pitch, couldn’t catch the damn ball. And you can print that,” he added, as he stamped out a cigarette and stomped off.

Gamialf’s replacement wasn’t immediately named, but a Minas Tirith official said an announcement could come as soon as tomorrow.
