Washington - "The Evergreen State"

Sondra: "Washington State! Mountains, glaciers, rainforests, desert. The most beautiful coastline in the country. Green, green, green! Great fresh local food, wonderful restaurants. Great Beer, wine, and coffee. And the freshest air you'd ever want to breathe. Huge military community and the craziest mix of people you'd ever imagine. Although Boston is a great place to grow up and be from, I've been here almost 12 years and every day I still wake up in awe."

Annie: "Hmm, looks like I'm gonna need to testify (!) for Washington State. I moved away for seven years and actually CHOSE to move back so we must have some good stuff here.

1. Music - any and all varieties of music you wanna find, you can find here, especially in downtown Seattle. Not to mention that our great state is home to many great bands such as Pearl Jam, Nirvana (tho they don't really count anymore do they?), Soundgarden (another one not to count), oh god, I know there are more but I'm drawing a blank now.

2. Trees - we got em everywhere!

3. Space Needle - nothing beats the view from the top.

4. Mild weather - sure it rains all the time, but we're not buried in snow or sweltering either.

5. TV and Movies - Twin Peaks was filmed here as well as many other shows and movies (again, drawing a blank)."

The Puget Sound, Mt. Rainer, and air so clean it almost hurts your lungs.

The trees, the mountains, the nightlife, the seafood, the beautiful not too hot Summers and the not too cold Winters, fresh air, and a great place to call home.

Washington has the best of both worlds (since I've lived on the west and east sides, I can speak from experience).

How many states have deserts and forests that are only 4 hours away from each other?

Western Washington has the diverse Seattle with great seafood, Pike's Place Market, the Space Needle, Dick's, Microsoft, Nintendo...that's just the tip of the Space Needle. Not to mention the beautiful Snoqualmie Pass, the forests, the skiing and the refreshing rain.

On the east side, there are rolling farmlands where you can see mint, grapes, apples, cherries growing near the side of the roads. Not to mention the boat races on the Columbia, the wineries, and even country living for those who love animals like horses, llamas, and cows. There are some incredible sunsets during the dry, hot summer months and you can see so many stars after nightfall.

I love Washington, I've been to other places, but nothing beats home.

Plus we are home to the coffee craze. Need we say more?

The San Juan Islands. Could there BE anything more beautiful?

I love Washington! The Puget Sound area is as green as Ireland. You can visit wineries and orchards as beautiful as anything in France. The weather is so gentle that you can garden all year. Seattle is so much fun to walk in.

Washington, the state with no state income tax, no turnpikes, and (west of the mountains) no home air conditioning.
