\nThe no-hitter is one of baseball’s truly egalitarian achievements. It’s done by the great and the not-so-great alike, and for nearly all of them it represents the pinnacle of a career. Carrock Bears pitcher Leojym Elvythien had his moment today at Old League Park, holding the Bucklebury Fairies hitless and beating them, 3-0.<\/p>\n
“Everything was working for him,” Fairies manager Palin Cavernbreaker said. “He had a lot of late movement that seemed to cause the guys trouble, especially from the fifth inning on. He was in command.”<\/p>\n
Elvythien rung up 6 strikeouts, issued no walks and faced only 16 hitters in his historic outing. After the game, he spoke to BNN reporters in the Carrock locker room.<\/p>\n
“I really got nervous in the last inning,” Elvythien recalled. “I knew I had a chance at a no-hitter but it was hard to stay calm and concentrate. Thank goodness for my catcher. He told me he would do all the thinking and I could just concentrate on hitting his glove.”<\/p>\n
To date this season, Elvythien has a record of 10 wins and 5 losses and a 3.18 ERA. He has appeared in 23 games and struck out 73 in 104.2 innings.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
