4-0 Win Takes Dragons to 87-67
|
The Dol Guldur Dragons earned a win at Dol Guldur Stadium, knocking off the Misty Mountain Hops, 4-0. On the bump for Dol Guldur was right-hander Dilo Covalchuc. He had a starring role in the triumph. Covalchuc, now 12-11, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 8, walking 1, and allowing no runs. Ecaeris Belondir was credited with the save for Dol Guldur, his 3rd of the season.
Torjus Nicolaescu had a big 2-run double for the Dragons in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Dol Guldur leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from 25-year old left-handed pitcher Chae-ku Ogura and swatted a double to left. It was his 40th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Dragons ahead, 3-0.
"I made a lot of good pitches," said Covalchuc. "I was right where I wanted to be."
The first-place Dragons have won 4 consecutive games.
