Maine was part of Massachusetts until 1820, but that usually just means they won’t follow along with anything Mass does just out of principle. So, now, having seen the six years of Armageddon caused by those city folks down I-95 lettin’ the gays run wild, Maine jumps into the same cesspool? Don’t they know that gay marriage disintegrated civilization from Boston to Pittsfield???
This one’s for you, Charlie Howard.
Man, it looks more and more like we’re going to have to move north. Thanks for the link to Charlie. 🙂
Hopefully the law will stand.
Every election, there are petition-people trying to “save” marriage in Maine, even before this law was signed. We had a non-discrimination law in the books in regards to gay/lesbian folks, and it was shot down by a peoples referendum a few years later. Thus my skepticism for “dear old Maine”…
I am surprised it passed through the legislature and the governors office as easily as it did. Pleasantly surprised, mind you.
UPDATE: Challenge already filed.

Sad but true, here in Dear Old Maine.
Hoorah for Maine – despite the challenge, it’s a strong message to other less… open-minded states. *cough*Utah*cough*
