MC’s Best Rookie Acclaimed

The debut season of Dead Marshes’s catcher Galugol Belilmalas was capped off today with the announcement that he has been crowned the 2041 Mordor Conference Frodo Rookie Award winner.

Here are his season stats: 139 games played, a .270 average, 128 hits, 24 home runs, 61 walks and a .358 on-base percentage. Belilmalas also drove in 67 runs and scored 65 times.

Cuugush McKeown of the Misty Mountain Hops finished second in voting, while Mlartlar Neverseen of the Dead Marshes Uruk-hai finished third.

No Late-Season Magic Coming: Dead Marshes Out of Playoffs

While the Dead Marshes Uruk-hai clubhouse is normally a jovial and upbeat place, things were extremely solemn today. That’s because the club is now officially eliminated from playoff contention.

Dead Marshes last appeared in the postseason in 2035. This is their 6th consecutive year missing the playoffs, and in total they have not advanced past the regular season 27 times in their 38-year history. In the last 10 seasons, the Uruk-hai have missed the playoffs 5 times.

MC Player of the Week, Legil-Gar of Dead Marshes

It’s always a thrill for fans of the team and students of the game alike when a superstar in the making shows what he’s got. Lumdor Legil-Gar, the Dead Marshes Uruk-hai 25-year-old left fielder, put himself in the spotlight last week making him the clear-cut choice for Mordor Conference Player of the Week honors.

He ripped 10 hits in 20 at-bats, compiling a .500 average with 3 home runs and 8 RBIs.

On the season, Legil-Gar is batting .307 with 37 home runs and 107 RBIs. He has played in 145 games.

Legil-Gar Socks it to Dunharrow 3 Times

Fans are still buzzing after Dead Marshes whipped the Dunharrow Devils by the score of 13-6 today at Uruk-hai Field.

Lumdor Legil-Gar smashed three home runs in the contest, a feat that would be a career highlight for most players and few fans ever see. In a tremendous performance, the left fielder bashed out 4 hits in 5 at-bats, had 8 RBIs and scored 3 times.

At the postgame press conference, Legil-Gar said it was an “unbelievable” feeling to hit three home runs in a game.

“Getting one homer is special, and two is great,” Legil-Gar said. “Three is just… wow.”

Lumdor Legil-Gar hit a solo-shot off Smuzgurg Mooncutter in the 2nd, flied out in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Smuzgurg Mooncutter in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off Denise Goodrich in the 7th and hit a two-run double in the 8th.

This year Legil-Gar has 32 home runs and a .304 batting average.

Jonah Thrithraldor Calls Players-Only Meeting

After what he called a “particularly tough” string of recent losses, Jonah Thrithraldor called a players-only meeting to air some grievances with the members of the Dead Marshes Uruk-hai.

“There are just some things that have been festering for a while that we need to take care of,” the 30-year-old said, although he did not elaborate on those specific issues. “Some of the stuff is off the field, some of the stuff is stuff on the field. I hope the talk just gave gave guys a chance to say what they wanted to say and move on with it, looser and ready to win ballgames.”

Other members of the ballclub left the stadium early and many refused to talk about the meeting and what was discussed.

Headmasher Gone for Season in Dead Marshes

The news is bad in Dead Marshes. The Uruk-hai have lost the services of right fielder Farag Headmasher for the rest of the season due to a broken bone in the elbow. Headmasher was injured in a recent game with the Dagorlad Disaster while being hit by a pitch and is expected to miss 6 months.

For the season Headmasher has produced 114 hits in 386 at-bats for a .295 average with 14 home runs and gotten on base at a .355 clip.

Neverseen Caps Great Week

One of the league’s most exciting young players, Mlartlar Neverseen of the Dead Marshes Uruk-hai earned himself Mordor Conference Player of the Week honors with a standout performance in last week’s games.

For the week the 25-year-old center fielder had a lofty .500 average (10-for-20), collecting 4 home runs, 7 RBIs and 4 runs scored.

So far this year Neverseen is batting .239 with 21 home runs.

Legil-Gar June’s Best Bat Choice

At only 25 years of age, Lumdor Legil-Gar could very well be having many more months like the last this in his career.

That would be great news for fans of the Dead Marshes Uruk-hai, as June was one to remember for the left fielder and he has captured the Mordor Conference Batter of the Month award.

On the month he hit .364 with 12 home runs, 28 RBIs and 21 runs scored.

Legil-Gar on the season is hitting .317 with 21 home runs. His stats include 52 RBIs and 51 runs scored.

Week’s Top Player: Dead Marshes’s Neverseen

25-year-old Mlartlar Neverseen sent shock waves through Tolkien Baseball last week with an eye-popping performance that brought him the Mordor Conference Player of the Week Award.

A newcomer to the league, Neverseen made the establishment sit up and take notice, punishing opposing pitchers with a .421 average, 8 hits in 19 at-bats, 4 home runs and 9 RBI.

Where the Dead Marshes Uruk-hai center fielder goes from here, only the baseball gods know for sure, but Neverseen certainly made his mark last week.

Posting a .262 batting average to date, Neverseen has 9 home runs and 27 RBIs.

Injury Forces Thraryn *Samarkand Out

A blow for Thraryn *Samarkand today — team doctors confirmed he will miss 4-5 months with a broken bone in the elbow. *Samarkand suffered the injury colliding with a player at a base. Although officials from the Dead Marshes Uruk-hai are confident he’ll make a full recovery, doubts will persist about *Samarkand’s ability to return fully fit with an injury of this nature.
