What does a seven-game win streak mean in June? It means the Old Forest Merry Fellows are no longer just leading the Elf Division — they're starting to look like a team that expects to.

At 41-28, Old Forest sits thirteen games above .500 and a full thirteen games clear of the Minas Tirith Titans in the Elf Division standings. The Moria Miners and Mirkwood Sylvan are further back still, the latter having spent most of this season in something resembling controlled collapse. The division race, at least on paper, has begun to look less like a race and more like a coronation procession. The Merry Fellows are not waiting for anyone to catch up.

The pitching staff is where this streak has been built. Tusdar Aelorothi crossed 1,000 career strikeouts during this very run — a personal milestone that arrived quietly, the way milestones do when a pitcher is locked in and the games are going the right way. Snaglut Baldivía reached 1,000 career innings pitched this season as well. These are not young arms still figuring out who they are. This is a rotation that knows exactly what it's doing.

Seven straight wins in June is not the same as seven straight wins in September. Anyone who covers this game long enough learns that. Teams peak in June and fade. Teams find something in June that carries them all the way through. The difference, usually, is pitching depth and a lineup that can sustain pressure when the schedule gets harder. Old Forest has reasons to believe they fall into the second category.

The Elf Division will not challenge them seriously at this rate. The real question — the one worth watching through July and into August — is what kind of team the Merry Fellows become when the games actually matter. Whether this streak is prologue or the whole story won't be known until October. But right now, in the middle of a Tuesday in June, they are playing the best baseball in their division, and the calendar has plenty of pages left to turn.
