Alrond "Supremacy" Hubbard Jr. owns the Tolkien Baseball single-season home run record. Seventy. He set it in 2046. Nobody has touched it since.
The number is not debated. Seventy home runs in a single season is the ceiling. The Old Forest Merry Fellows' designated hitter put that ceiling in place and walked away. The record has stood for seven years. Based on what MESN has seen in the seven years since, it may stand for seven more.
Forerunner Baggins occupies second on the list with 66 home runs, also in 2046. That is the same year Supremacy set the record, which makes 2046 either the greatest offensive season in Tolkien Baseball history or a very suspicious one, depending on who you ask. Baggins also holds the fifth slot on the all-time list with 63 home runs in 2040, making him the only player to appear twice in the top five. Two seasons. Two entries. That is not an accident.
Third place is a tie. Giden Eladriewen hit 64 home runs in 2039, before Baggins and before Supremacy. Eladriewen did it first. Ferdinand "Apple Pip" Puttifoot matched that number in 2048, nine years later, with what remains the most recent entry in the top five. Puttifoot's 64 came close enough to second place to raise eyebrows, according to sources whose eyebrows MESN has not personally verified.
The full list, then: Hubbard Jr. at 70, Baggins at 66, Eladriewen and Puttifoot tied at 64, and Baggins again at 63. Four players. Five entries. Three different decades.
What the list tells you is straightforward. Power hitting in Tolkien Baseball peaks in unpredictable bursts. No franchise has produced two players in the top five. No player has come within four home runs of Supremacy's record in seven years. Hubbard Jr. did not edge the record. He set it by a margin that has proven durable.
Seventy is the number. Everything else is commentary.
