The Old Forest Merry Fellows have traded left fielder Teryani Ipyllasc and starting pitcher Xu-gang Sharmistha to the Dagorlad Disaster in a two-part deal completed March 31. Dagorlad sends back right-hander Olithir Isumer and minor-league left-hander May Bridger. Old Forest retains a portion of Sharmistha's contract.

That is a lot of moving parts. Start with what Dagorlad gets.

Ipyllasc, 27, hit .267 with 17 home runs and 3.5 WAR in 2052. Old Forest called him a phenom. The label was not unearned. A right-handed bat in left field with that kind of WAR production at 27 is useful. He arrives in the Goblin Division on opening day and slots directly into a Disaster lineup that already survived last season's gauntlet — MESN covered that ten-game winning streak during the 2052 stretch run. Ipyllasc gives them a credible threat in the outfield corners.

Sharmistha, 30, went 14-10 with a 4.15 ERA in 2052. He is not an ace. He is a number-three starter who throws right-handed and eats innings. Dagorlad is getting rotation depth at a manageable cost. The Disaster's rotation needed it.

Now look at what Old Forest takes back.

Isumer, 24, went 13-10 with a 3.55 ERA last year. That ERA is better than Sharmistha's by sixty points. He is six years younger and costs a fraction of the money. Old Forest also gets May Bridger, a minor-league left-hander who does not factor into the 2053 rotation immediately but represents organizational depth. The Merry Fellows are clearly rebuilding around younger, cheaper arms.

The fielding angle here matters more than people are writing. Ipyllasc was not just a bat. He was a competent left fielder. Who covers that ground in Old Forest now is a real question. Replacing 3.5 WAR in the outfield is harder than replacing a lineup spot. Old Forest's front office is betting that Isumer's arm covers the loss. That is a reasonable bet. It is not a certain one.

Dagorlad improves its ceiling. Old Forest improves its rotation economics. Both things are true.
