• Football: Week 7

Good grief! They expect me to make football picks while I’m stunned?? Why are they even bothering to play football this weekend?

Congrats to the Cardinals! It would have been fun having Clemens come home to Fenway, but this match-up has more tradition to it. St. Louis has beaten the Sox in 2 of the last 4 World Series they’ve been in… including the one in which I was indoctrinated into the Cult of Yaz in 1967.

I hope that Yaz will be a part of the World Series hoopla. According to reports, he’s having a tough time since the death of his son in September. It would be great if he could participate, though.

Anyway, here are my lame-o football picks. For those keeping score at home, I am slinking back toward a .500 record. Missed 5 last week to drop to 59-29.

    Atlanta at Kansas City
    Buffalo at Baltimore
    Chicago at Tampa Bay
    Detroit at N.Y. Giants
    Jacksonville at Indianapolis
    Philadelphia at Cleveland
    San Diego at Carolina
    St. Louis at Miami
    Tennessee at Minnesota
    N.Y. Jets at New England
    Dallas at Green Bay
    New Orleans at Oakland
    Seattle at Arizona
    Denver at Cincinnati

I wish I gave a damn about football so I could implore the Jets to exact some revenge against the Pats this weekend, but I gave up on football when the salary cap was enacted, and if I did care anymore, I’d be pulling for the Pats, since to me the Jets are football’s version of the Mets with green uniforms.
We hates ’em! Go Big Blue!

59? That makes us tied now, I caught up to you this week with a stunning 12-2 week. I’ll probably lay a huge egg this week though….

I think you’re in good shape with those picks.

The only one I don’t like is the San Diego pick. Carolina will win that one. The rest is fine.

    Four More games!
