The Old Forest Merry Fellows have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Carrock Bears, winning, 14-1, at Old League Park. Merry Fellows third baseman Belegond Lucier hit 2 home runs, while scoring 3 times and driving in 4. The win cuts the deficit facing the Merry Fellows to 3-2 in the best-of-7 Fellowship Series.
Lucier had a key at-bat in the top of the fourth to put Old Forest in front, 9-0. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, he hit a 3-run home run off Carrock pitcher Lily Poolslinger.
“The rain was definitely not preferable,” Lucier said. “It worked out fine I guess, but we’ll be happy if we see the sun next time.”
Game 6 is scheduled for Tuesday at Shire Greens Stadium.
