Lex I: Corpus omne perseverare in statu suo quiescendi vel movendi uniformiter in directum, nisi quatenus a viribus impressis cogitur statum illum mutare.
Roughly translated: “A fat ass sitting on a couch won’t get up and move itself.”
The excuses I have for not having posted in the blog, or written any songs, or recorded any music, or cleared the back jungle, or shredded this pile of old bills, or upgraded my PC to Windows 7, or a hundred other things gnawing at the back of my cranium like a rabid rabbit are legion:
“Facebook is easier.”
“No one likes what I write.”
“It’s too hot.”
“It’s too cold.”
“It will take too long.”
“I’m tired from work.”
In the immortal words of Ask Ashley, “blah-dee, blah-dee, blah-dee, BLAH!”
Today it stops. I’m not saying that I’m going to eliminate laziness from my life like turning on a light switch, but the only way to get moving is to get moving. This here post is a tiny step. I stared at the screen for quite a while with the same old excuses running through my head (the biggest being, “what do I write about?”). But even if it’s junk like this, I need to start making the blog a habit again. I need to spend at least a few minutes each day with the guitar. I need to do what needs to be done. Otherwise, I’ll look up and suddenly I’ll be some lazy 50 year old instead of the vibrant 48 that I want to be.
Good to see you back. I’ve missed you!
Welcome back!
So I’ve just written down the phrase “the only way to get moving is to get moving” and posted it above my computer and now both you and I are going to have to live with/by that. So there.
A vibrant 48 year old?
You can’t be that old. Cuz that would make me…..
And I’m not feeling terribly vibrant, either.
