A Musical Challenge

Melissa suggested in her post “You Call That Weird Music?” that if we all just laid our playlists on the table, we’d find out that our musical tastes weren’t so strange as we thought. Hmm… let’s see…

Three Diametrically Opposed Songs on My Playlist:
“Anarchy in the U.K.” – Sex Pistols
“Bridge Over Troubled Water” – Simon and Garfunkel
“The Bottle Let me Down” – Merle Haggard

Two Songs That No One Would Ever Guess I Have:
Now THAT’S difficult. Who knows what you’d guess? My playlist has George Jones right beside Flogging Molly… Ramones and Patsy Cline… Chopin and Spike Jones… Ella Fitzgerald and ELO… Beethoven and Weird Al Yankovic… Stevie Ray Vaughn and Natalie Cole… Try these on for size…

“Has It Come To This” – The Streets
“Memories Are Made Of This” – Dean Martin

Obviously, you’re musical diversity is no surprise to me. I do get a chuckle, however, at my 9 year old son’s musical range… he goes from the predictable (Backstreet Boys, N’Synch, Britney Spears) to the appropriate, in MY house (The Beatles, natch) to the surprising….
Frank Sinatra. His godfather made some Frank CD’s for me, and my boy grabbed’em and ran with them. (To listen to, silly!) Good stuff, all around.
Now, Solonor, if you can only get the Whiny son of yours to appreciate the Beatles properly… 🙂

    Yay! Flogging Molly!

  3. I appreciate the Beatles just fine, thank you.

As for the other stuff…Yay Simon and Garfunkel! Yay Flogging Molly! Yay Ramones! Yay Chopin! Yay Ella Fitzgerald! Yay Beethoven! Yay Weird Al! Yay Natalie Cole!

Anyone have the secret hidden videotape from Shoney’s a couple of weeks ago? The one where Whiny was trying to tell his father and I that the Beatles were over-rated, or some such? 🙂
    ppppphhhhhhhhttttthhhhhhhhppppttttttttttt
Right after the part about EVERYBODY doing The Holy Grail bits, methinks…. Or maybe it was the pie that causing my memory to go. Or maybe it was the Solonor familia having given up stuff fer lent… or maybe it was the fact that Whiny couldn’t see the Whack. Or maybe I need to go to bed. 🙂
