AmphetaDesk

AmphetaDesk is a free syndicated news aggregator for your desktop. I just put 20 of my favorite sites’ XML feeds into it, and now I can browse all the latest posts in one spot.

I wish it had a web-based version. I suppose I could figure out how to use it on the site, since it’s Perl-based, but I’m too lazy. I’ll wait for them to tell me how to do it. Very cool tool.

I tried it and decided I didn’t like it. I think my browser kept crashing when I was trying to read posts and then it would think that I’d read them. Now I use NewzCrawler and am much happier. It’s a Windows based app though, so it might not be for you.

Sadly, I found out the same thing. It crashes the browser. I’m going back to the old fashioned way of reading blogs…surfing! (Too cheap to pay for NewsCrawler.)

I have been in contact with the good folk at Disobey. After seeing these comments, they jumped right on the case, wanting to know what was wrong and how they might fix it.

Unfortunately(?), everything has been working fine recently. I am wondering if a bad XML feed was causing the problem. In any case, I am back to using Amphetadesk!
