Be Ye Worthy?

Last year, Robyn’s efforts to get Statia down to Florida for Thanksgiving kinda snowballed into something even more important. See, for those of 3 or 4 you who don’t remember, it all started with a friend who was going to be alone for the holiday offering to show her boobs to get donations for a plane ticket. From such small things (no offense, *snort*) great things come. The donations poured in. Then other bloggers started offering to show theirs to help. Soon it was apparent that Robyn was collecting more money than would be needed for the plane ticket. But being the Princess of the Blogiverse™ isn’t just a stupid name given to you by some tiara-buyin’ goofball with an extra ten bucks lying around. No! You only get that title if you have the royal generosity and sweet soul that goes with it. So, it was decreed that the remainder of the money would go to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Thus was raised $1,251 for charity.

It’s that time of year again.

On October 1, the 2003 Boobie-thon will begin accepting donations. The primary benefactor will be the Komen Foundation, but this year the $359 that went for last year’s plane ticket will be awarded to a deserving blogger charity. This is the “Bloggers-Helping-Bloggers” Prize. There will be a panel of judges to award the prize, and Zuly and I have volunteered to collect all the names of the worthy charities to be considered.

So, if you want to be considered or know someone who should be, make sure you let us know by leaving a comment.

And don’t ignore us when we e-mail you for confirmation! I know. I know. Frickin’ spammers have made you wary of e-mails with “boobie” in the subject line. Trust us. We’re from the government.

Ooo, ooo! Does it have to be for personal use? Like, if I wanted to be considered for it to be a donation to this year’s Operation Santa project – which Scott and I will start in November, probably – would that be okay? Or is it just for bloggers in personal need?

Oh no, Kim — that’s a great cause and more than acceptable! It’s for bloggers in need and/or their charity causes. You can find more here.
