Can’t Touch This

In a never-ending quest to come up with new and creative ways to make you afraid to get out of bed, the Justice Department is now confiscating ‘illegal’ domain names to use as Venus fly traps. I must admit, it’s a darling little plan.

  1. Evildoer runs web site.
  2. Evildoer gets caught, convicted, and turns over domain name to DOJ.
  3. DOJ points anyone clicking evildoer’s link to DOJ servers.
  4. DOJ reports evil-seeking clickers to FBI.

Genius!

So, now just looking at a web site that might be associated with drug paraphernalia or *gasp* DMCA violators (also known as baby killers) will get your name on the FBI’s list.

This has had me steaming for the past day, since I first heard about this.

So what’s next? Blogs? How long before we, ourselves, are targetted by this religious maniac?

  5. Tracy says:

Ha! I’m already on their fucking list, for threatening President Reagan…like, duh! I didn’t actually threaten him anyway. It was just a strongly worded letter. With some cussing. And one tiny little challenge. Sheesh. I was drunk at the time anyway.

“David Rocci, 22, pleaded guilty in December to using his site to sell “mod” chips that let Microsoft Xbox and Sony PlayStation owners modify their devices so that they could use them to play illegally copied games, or “warez.” ”

And what exactly will they do with all those people that visit the sites? Arrest half the nation? Puhleeease.

Besides, I know the FBI and the NSA already have me on file. I sent them my resume 🙂

    *sigh*
What’s the matter, they can’t quite figure out how to fully transform into the “thought police” so now they have to resort to entrapment?

I bet these pirates and hackers they keep locking away can do it…

  11. I give it six months until a Hacker changes the DNS config in order to send the potential evil-doers to Porn.

I give it less time than that until I go out of my way to Hit EVERY SIGNLE SITE they list… might as well get some amusement while watching my tax-dollars go down the drain.
