1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? I like to grog the nog, but I prefers me some liquified chocolatey goodness. No marshmallows (unless they’re those little baby ones like in Swiss Miss Instant Cocoa).
2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? What kind of preverted Santa leaves presents without the fun of 3 miles of wrapping paper and 10 lbs of tape on each package?
3. Colored lights on tree/house or white? Either one, as long as they’re not .
4. Do you hang mistletoe? Only for hanging offenses. Otherwise, it’s totally jail time.
5. When do you put up your decorations? If we’re on our game, we do it Thanksgiving weekend (otherwise it’s down to the wire)…and they stay up until Valentine’s Day! Currently, the tree has a chicken, a rat, a dragon and a Fraggle on it, but that’s it.
6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)? You people eat something other than dessert during Christmas? Sickos.
7. Favorite holiday memory as a child: Waking up in the middle of the night and while everyone was asleep seeing the presents under the tree and looking out the window at the moonlight on the snow to see if there were any sleigh tracks.
8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? What truth? Wait! Don’t tell me! He’s Jewish?
9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? NEVER!!
10. How do you decorate your Christmas Tree? I don’t. My daughter does.
11. Snow! Love it or Dread it? Having not seen any in quite a while, I would have to say that it would be nice for a change.
12. Can you ice skate? I used to be able to…it’s been a while…
13. Do you remember your favorite gift? This could get into a whole long thing about favorite toys from childhood, but the first thing that popped into my head was my Steve Austin Six Million Dollar Man van and accessories.
14. What’s the most important thing about the Holidays for you? Being with family (can’t improve on Don’s answer).
15. What is your favorite holiday dessert? Pumpkin pie!
16. What is your favorite holiday tradition? Ok, we’ve got a weird one…
On Christmas Eve as a kid, we always took a drive to see the Christmas lights on the houses. We continued that tradition with our kids, but once we got active in our church a few years ago, we found ourselves spending the early evening in the service. By the time we got out, we hadn’t had supper and nothing was open for restaurants. So, we stopped at 7-11 and loaded up on junk food.
Now, this has become our Christmas Eve tradition!!
I’m totally serious! If we tried to have a nice meal instead of our convenience store junk food binge on Christmas Eve, we would (and have) had a serious revolt on our hands.
17. What tops your tree? An angel, usually
18. Which do you prefer Giving or Receiving? Giving, for sure. My dad always played Santa at the tree, handing out presents one-at-a-time, while everyone looked to see what each person got. I have that role in our family now, and it would be (and has been) another revolt if the order of things is suggested to be changed.
19. What is your favorite Christmas Song? Sleigh Ride by the Boston Pops (with whip crack!)
20. Candy Canes!? Meh. They’re ok.
21. What is your wish for Christmas? Safety… for our troops abroad… for my family… for my friends. (again, thanks Don)

1. Egg nog. (With or without Capt. Morgans)
2. Wrapped.
3. Prefer white, not blinking.
4. No.
5. First weekend after Thanksgiving. (I work retail, Black Friday weekend is out.)
6. Agree with Solly, dessert!!! OK, I love the traditional turkey dinner, too.
7. The year when we had a HUGE snowstorm on Christmas Eve, and there was a young family who were stranded on our road. We had them stay over until the road could be cleared the next day. It was WAY cool sharing Christmas with them.
8. The hard way, way too late. This is a sensitive issue for me, as I have a 12 year old and a 9 year old, and I’m too chicken to approach the subject with them.
9. If we go to the kids Godparents house, yes. No biggie to me, either way.
10. Ditto Solly. I go with the family on the annual trek to pick out the real tree, cut it down, haul it home, and get it into the living room. My only remaining responsibility is to string the lights. They do the rest.
11. I accept it, living in the middle of it. I actually like having some snow on the ground, it actually makes things a bit warmer than having the wind blow over bare ground…. Come home, Solly. You won’t miss it very long!!! 🙂
12. Not very well.
13. Nothing stands out, save perhaps the barnyard set that our un-expected guests from the snowstorm helped me assemble.
14. Ditto Solly. What little time I get, being a slave to retail.
15. Mom’s apple pie. It is the best.
16. When we get home on Christmas Eve, we get settled into the living room and watch A Muppet Christmas Carol. I would be MAJOR disappointed were that not to happen.
17. Angel
18. Giving. Receiving is cool enough, but I have plenty of toys. Giving is way cool, especially with young kids.
19. Again, ditto Solly. Sleigh Ride rules.
20. Nah. Don’t do much fer me.
21. One last time, ditto Solly. Oh, and the winning lottery ticket…so I could properly enjoy Christmas next year!
1. Egg Nog, definitely nog.
2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? What kind of cretan Kris Kringle does NOT wrap?
3. Colored lights on tree/house or white? To lazy.
4. Do you hang mistletoe? Depends on what time of the month it is.
5. When do you put up your decorations?
Anytime after Thanksgiving; however there have been years when I was decorating it either Xmas eve or the day of. This year? I decorated it last weekend.
6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)? Only one year in my life did we have a Christmas goose. Loved it. I’m an anomaly. I enjoy fruitcake.
7. Favorite holiday memory as a child:
Being about 4 years old, my dad dressed as a Santa and hid in my closet, and waited until I was drowsy and popped out of my closet. There hasn’t been that type of magic for me in a long time.
8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? About the age of six, realizing as we walked from store to store, and each store had their own santa…
9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? No thank you, the day of is the day!
10. How do you decorate your Christmas Tree? With ornaments from trips I’ve taken, and ornaments I’ve received as gifts.
11. Snow! Love it or Dread it? Love it. Ice, on the otherhand, can suck satan’s bunghole.
12. Can you ice skate? No.
13. Do you remember your favorite gift? A Mrs. Beaseley doll at age 3
14. What’s the most important thing about the Holidays for you? The reason for the season.
15. What is your favorite holiday dessert? Fruit cake and cookies
16. What is your favorite holiday tradition? If I’m so inclined, I attend midnight mass at a local Episc. church.
17. What tops your tree? A big bow
18. Which do you prefer Giving or Receiving? Giving. Especially secret santas.
19. What is your favorite Christmas Song? Dominic the Donkey
20. Candy Canes!? I can tolerate them
21. What is your wish for Christmas?
a. World peace.
b. Become a benevolent dictator.
If I can’t have those, then I’ll settle for chocolate.
