Yeah. Right. I’m sure all the Linux vendors are going to be sending SCO a check right off. I mean, they gotta don’t they? Since they’re all getting invoices and stuff.
I think there’s a picture of SCO headquarters near the definition of “chutzpah” in the dictionary.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; if the allegation that Linux is contaminated (and I use the word intentionally) with Uniware or Openserver code is even vaguely possible the old SCO (and Big Doug) would have been all over this like a rash. Hell, they’ve managed to take a $200m company and turn it into a $10m company in just under 10 years — now that is some quality management — I first articulated the phrase “donkey of the decade is jointly awarded to Michels and Mohan” back in 1998.
Anyway IBM should end up being rich and owning the rights to Unix in about 12 months time. In which case they can make SVR5 open source. My, that would piss an awful lot of people off (SCO, Caldera, Tarantella, AT&T, Novell to name but a few). And what about all those people who paid their SVR5 license fees up front (Sun)?
The holding group that owns Caldera have made a living of lawsuits. How sweet that they will die from their own sword.
