Evil

I finally was able to do it. I entered my instant rage and incoherent screaming into a blog post and walked away without posting it. So, you get spared all the nonsensical rambling about man’s inhumanity to man and who’s to blame and a ton of other crap that would inflame conservatives and liberals alike. Instead, I think I can summarize the whole thing thusly:

Yesterday, a group of so-called humans cut off a man’s head.

And it was evil.

I wanna see the rant, myself. Telling me it existed, yet not letting me see it, now that’s evil.
(Not making light of this “off with his head” thing… haven’t heard about it yet. Now I’m off to Google it.)

    Sheesh.

    That sucks.

It appears there is more than enough evil to go around these days. It’s time to stop all of it, and not by spreading around a little more evil in the process, either.

The events of the last week leave me wondering if there is any hope for us whatsoever.

I don’t know, Brian. We have turned the other cheek since the Shah of Iran was overthrown. We never retailited in the past, and all it brought us was a larger bullseye. We tried to “understand them”.

I’m getting to the point where I have enough confidence in our philosphical position (as a Western state) to say that we were wrong for all those years. We can’t talk away hatred. It has to be faced and we have to show that we are not afraid.

I, for one, have a stiffer resolve and refound hope.

Merrin said there was a poll on CNN yesterday asking if the Nick Berg video (or even the details of it) were changing peoples’ minds about the battle that’s being fought in Iraq (specifically) and against Islamic militants (in general)….

Out of respect to our friend Solonor, I’d be glad to discuss this with you somewhere other than in his comments, Kevin, but I am not suggesting that we “turn the other cheek”, rather that we do not allow ourselves to think that somehow the evil acts of others rationalize our own willingness to commit evil. That’s the last I’ll say of it here, but you can find me through the contact info here.

I mentally composed about a dozen blog entries on this subject and when I tried to actually write one of them… Let’s just say I couldn’t even write a first sentence that wasn’t volatile and not completely composed of 4-letter words.

It’s not that I care whether I inflame liberals, conservatives or anyone, really. I’m just not thinking very clearly because I’m so angry with both the media and the political extremists on both sides. Especially the morons who are now claiming that it was a staged CIA propaganda tool. Makes my blood boil.

You’re right. It’s evil. Pure evil.

*sigh* Where’s Gene Roddenberry’s vision when you need it?
