Fear The Onion

I am officially scared of The Onion. They have struck a deal for prophetic power that no human should have. If they are indeed still human…

This is what they wrote on January 17, 2001, upon the inauguration of George W. Bush:

Bush: ‘Our Long National Nightmare Of Peace And Prosperity Is Finally Over’

During the 40-minute speech, Bush also promised to bring an end to the severe war drought that plagued the nation under Clinton, assuring citizens that the U.S. will engage in at least one Gulf War-level armed conflict in the next four years.

On the economic side, Bush vowed to bring back economic stagnation by implementing substantial tax cuts, which would lead to a recession, which would necessitate a tax hike, which would lead to a drop in consumer spending, which would lead to layoffs, which would deepen the recession even further.

Whatever they write about Obama, I would listen to them carefully.

I remeber when that came out, I thought…”Na…it’ll ever get THAT bad”.

    It’s been worse. :^(

Well, in that case, take heed of this recent Onion Radio headline: Lazy Nation Fears Obama Will Create Millions Of Jobs

Today, President-elect Barack Obama struck fear in the hearts of workers across the US who have grown accustomed to weekly unemployment checks and constant idleness. Many say they never asked Obama to return them to a way of life that would require leaving the house every day.

And there you have it. The Onion, the Prophet. 🙂
