I thought Florida was nuts…

CNN.com – Schwarzenegger wins, Davis concedes – Oct. 8, 2003

I don’t live in California, so I don’t know, but it can’t be that bad. Can it? At least Reagan told you what his lame-ass ideas were before you elected him.

I went to Arnie’s web site to see if there was something beyond the 30-second sound bites to which I’d (admittedly) only half paid attention. What I found was a PDF presentation entitled “Arnold Schwarzenegger’s 10 Step – 100 Day Agenda to Turn California Around”. Here they are:

  1. Repeal Gray Davis’ Tripling of the Car Tax
  2. Freeze Spending & Launch Audit of State Budget
  3. Call Special Session & Make Spending Cuts To Address Current Imbalance
  4. Get Our Fair Share of Indian Gaming Revenue
  5. Renegotiate State Employee Union Contracts to Get Better Deal for Taxpayers
  6. Pass Jobs Package with Real Workers’ Comp Reform
  7. Submit 04-05 Budget that Closes Deficit & Restructures Inherited Debt
  8. Streamline Bureaucracy & Send More Money to the Classroom
  9. Repeal SB-60, the Law that Gives Driver’s Licenses to Undocumented Immigrants
  10. Pass Open Government Amendment & Ban Fundraising During Budget Process

There ya go! Piece o’ cake. Screw state employees, Native Americans and immigrants, and magically balance the budget while increasing the 40% that already goes to education. I’d give you more details on exactly how this amazing feat will be done in 100 days, except there aren’t any. This is it. A glossy PDF with bullet points.

Good luck California. You thought it was bad before? Well, to mangle one of my favorite Arnie movie lines, “You should not drink and vote.”

We’re just waiting for the inevitable FARK “California” tag… And so with you on the Native American thing. As if we didn’t screw them over enough the first time around!

I don’t live out there either so I don’t know how bad the situation is but ( I am gonna get slapped for this I know. *ducks now*) What if he can actually pull this off? I mean, he’s got the Kennedy’s on his side, huge political family there, he may very well be smarter than what people give him credit for. What if he can do this? People are shooting him down because he’s an actor who groped a few women ( clinton did more than grope) smoked some pot ( at least he’s honest about it). He may just surprise everybody.

I don’t think he has the Kennedys on his side. Yeah, he married one, but I think that made her a bit of the family black sheep. I really don’t think the Kennedys – the most liberal political family out there – are going to throw any support or weight behind their conservative son-in-law.

I suspect that since the Indian tribes had all those millions to donate, primarily to Cruz but not exclusively, a more equitable distribution of gambling revenues is possible.

How come Indians can donate? They use their “separate nation” status to evade all sorts of taxes and regulations, hence the whole gambling thing, yet they can donate tons of money to influence elections. If the Saudis had given Cruz $3 million, wouldn’t there have been a huge outcry?

I am a CA resident and it is scary here! Maybe things were grim before, but recalling the governor? Are you kidding me? Ack. I am glad we are moving to MA next week.

The people of California have spoken. And loudly, too. Good for them!

  7. brandelion says:

Arnold’s platform sounds like a very bad Hans n Franz skit.

“We’re going to Pump! *clap* you up!”

anyone notice that there are now two Guv’nahs currently in office who appeared in the major motion picture, “Predator”?

  8. brandelion says:

    it was a total recall.

(i still can’t get over that one. ha ha!)

  9. Wow! I didn’t realize his platform was available as a PDF!

And all this time I thought his platform was based on spouting lame movie catchphrases!

Oh boy was I wrong about Ahnuld!

    [/sarcasm]

  10. Rori says:

Oh dear God. I knew it was going to be bad, I just did not know HOW bad.
