Leaving On A Jet Plane

When you get up in the wee hours of the morning in order to take your spouse to the airport (consuming two travel mugs of coffee in the process), 7am seems kinda late in the day.

Yes, Mrs. R is winging her way back to Maine for a vacation. We couldn’t afford a big family to-do like last year, but she was missing her sisters. So, she’s headed up there for about a week.

On the way to the airport, she commented that it seemed very strange to be going someplace without me. And it’s true. While I have gotten to play jet setter over the last 10 years or so, she never gets to go anywhere. And even though we are very independent sorts, we still tend to only go out together, either as a family or a couple. It’s almost like we like each other or something. Is that sick or what?

Anyway, I hope she has fun. For our part, Pepperkat and I are going to spend the time putting together her new computer out of castoff parts. Whiny and I are going to rent Ultimate Hulk or Rise of the Imperfects and play videogames all night. When the mom’s away, the geeks will play…

The liking stuff will last only until she comes home to the mess you have made in the kitchen.

That sounds wonderful. We just got rid of a house guest (no, not *that* way) and should have the house to ourselves until Thanksgiving. I think that’s the longest we’ve had the house to ourselves since …. well, ever.
