Mission Accomplished, Assholes

If you ignorant terrorist bastards thought that by murdering a whole bunch of innocent people you’d get the populace to rise up, you were right.

I cannot even remotely understand the mentality of a terrorist. I understand the passion for change, the desire for independence, “down with the man”, whatever. I might even sympathize with their cause. But how in God’s name does anyone with a brain that functions well enough to stand semi-erect and not choke on their own spit think that there’s even the slightest chance in hell that blowing up the little girl next door will gain you anything but the eternal damnation you deserve for it?

Yeah, what you said — ’cause I can’t say it any better. That was perfect. I don’t understand how people interpret things — like the Koran, the Bible, whatever. I failed to find the text that demanded the holiest of holy people commit murder on innocent people as a way to gain access to paradise.

Yes, well said Solly. A very, very sad day. I saw the news this morning and have been reading about it all day and just getting more numb.

Does the fact that’s today is the 11th mean anything?

May God be with the people of Spain.

  3. Mordant Carnival says:

I don’t know if the date is significant, but I can just picture some sick person thinking is would be cool or ironic to choose the 11th.

There’s some talk of Al-Qaeda involvment but so far it’s just speculation. this level of carnage is new for ETA but they have been foiled in similar attempts recently.

You know these bastards didn’t even phone in a warning? Unthinkable.

  4. Kevin says:

Oh, and there were exactly 911 days between the WTC attacks and these ones too; a number which is far more significant to Americans than the Spanish (as in Spain writes it’s dates 11/9 and dial 112 for their emergency services). al-Qaeda don’t have much history of caring about the date; it doesn’t mean they never will but I wouldn’t read too much into the dates myself.

Don’t ever use erect choke and spit in the same sentance again please! 😉

  6. Mordant C. says:

I reckon it would suit ETA just fine to have this blamed on Islamic terrorists. Everyone in Spain is still angry about Spain’s involvement in the war in Iraq, and a lot of people are blaming the ruling party of Spain for this attack, thinking it’s a response to Spain’s involvement in the war.

  7. Scott says:

It was 912 days — you forgot about the leap year.

  8. Kevin says:

911 complete days *between* the attacks 🙂 If it had been a more conventional 911 count then it wouldn’t be such a good example of how tenuous these things can be.
