No more monkey business

The slide show I made from Pepperkat’s VBS pictures was a hit at church Sunday. Well, that was fun. Now, it’s back to real life. We did take one, last fling at laziness this weekend, though.

On Friday night, we went out to dinner to celebrate our anniversary. It was number 20 this year, so I’m starting to think this marriage might work out after all. We exchanged sappy cards, and I gave her a rose and some beef jerky. Then we went to a Spanish restaurant and then to see A Prairie Home Companion.

Speaking of which, what a delightful movie. Not much of a plot, and definitely not for the Lindsey Lohan crowd (unless, of course, their parents make them sit and listen to the radio every Saturday night as all good parents should), but I loved it. I especially liked the Woody Harrelson/John C. Reilly duet called “Bad Jokes” (of course). So, if you’re a PHC fan or a Kevin Kline fan or a Meryl Streep fan or someone with whom I’d ever want to have a meaningful conversation, get thee hence, if thou hasn’t already hence be got.

What else did we do this weekend? Nothing!

I fooled around on the computer for most of it, while the rest of the clan watched Mrs. Henderson Presents, Transamerica, and the new version of The Omen. I did break away long enough to watch the season finale of Doctor Who, naturally.

That’s about it, really. Summer continues.

Well happy anniversary even if it’s only 20, bah Newly Weds… 😛

I don’t recall ever giving Mrs. Noded beef jerky for an anniversary present. Thanks for the suggestion.

I thought the movie was good … but probably appeals to two audiences: PHC fans and … I don’t know what you would call the other group.

I thought that the entire cast was courageous to allow themselves to be filmed and projected on the big screen in a way that showed why it was all meant to be on radio.

I, too, particularly enjoyed the cowboys. And it was fun seeing the radio folks depicting others.

I managed to catch a bit of the Dr. Who finale myself. And wouldn’t ya know it, both my kids have watched some of this seasons episodes (without me, pout pout) and were into it. Tres cool.

Well, I hadn’t heard that there was a PHC movie – MUST SEE! Thanks for mentioning it!

    Happy 20th anniversary!!!

We’ll be celebrating our 15th this year but we already have a really nice bottle of wine cellaring (isn’t that a hoity-toity word??) for our 20th. Looking forward to it and many more after that!

Drug my boys to see PHC on Saturday so I get to keep my conversations-with-solonor cred, right?
